I do want to ask you one thing though about ur statement in the blog that “unknown to many most Newari village has its own kumari” I think u r mistaken in writing this statement in ur blog becoz I have lived in Nepal for say 1.5yrs and I have heard only about say 6-7kumari (Patan Bhaktapur Kathmandu etc)are important amongst them in fact in Patan apart from a kumari people are worshipping an empty throne since 1972 just 10minutes downtown. U can verify this from national geographic coverage of living goddess of Nepal on web under ngm magazine. Also even for royal kumari this time only 2 girl made to final and very few appeared eager for selection in fact in 2003this number in final round used to be 7 so u can understand that Newari parents are becoming reluctant. So, if u r sure about what u have written then it’s good but if u have written it just by some source like trekroute or anywhere or u r not sure about validity of this statement. Plz remove it asap. I shall be thankful to u as I stand against this tradition and as a Nepali fellow I feel this must be stopped.
I support activist who r fighting against this tradition of kumari. A case is to be filed again in Supreme court of Nepal.
