Ghandruk Comfort Lodge Trek is especially designed for those people who want to discover the natural beauty, diverse flora and fauna, the varieties of lifestyles, culture and traditions of people along with the mesmerizing view of the Himalayas. This short trek allows the travelers to view the most spectacular mountain beauty, charming settlements and scenic locations delivering a fascinating insight that the Annapurna Region offers. The trekking trail passes through villages, terraced farmlands, forests and unparallel scenic mountains. It will invigorate your soul and also allows you to have an insight into the culture and life of the Nepalese people in the rural regions. The heart of Annapurna displays the most dramatic view of the region with the towering snow covered peaks and picturesque landscape.

During the trek you will stay in Ker and Downey luxury lodges located in the Annapurna region of Nepal. These properties are at a standard far better than anything else available in the area. All rooms have attached bathrooms with running hot water.

Ker & Downey lodges are conveniently placed within a reasonable days walk from each other making this itinerary a good objective for a wide range of people. The lodges are ecologically sympathetic and carefully located for their scenic views.

We have designed a wonderful trek based around these lodges where, not only do you get the superb mountain views of the high Himalayan peaks, but also visit Gurung villages. Along the trail you walk through terraced farmland and old growth forest.

For your convenience, we will provide each trekker with a day pack and duffel (kit) bag as well as a rain poncho, umbrella, trekking pole(s), water bottles, cotton scarf and sun hat. These items will be given to you when you arrive in Pokhara.

At Ker & Downey lodges the following items are available in the rooms: torch/ flashlight, candles, soap, towels and hair dryers. There are also down jackets, wool gloves, hats and slippers.

Day-By-Day Detailed Itinerary

Day 01-Arrive Kathmandu 

Arrive Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, group will be met and welcomed by our representative/guide. Please look for signage of your company once you come out of Arrival Terminal Hall after collecting your luggage. Group will be escorted by our representative/guide to the hotel

Welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal! – Kathmandu is the bustling capital of Nepal and the country’s largest city. Away from the modern parts of the city is an intricate maze of narrow streets, great for exploring and observing the traditional culture and Nepalese way of life with hidden temples, local markets and old workshops. Actually formed of three ancient cities, Kathmandu has always been a melting pot for the different ethnic groups of Nepal, and therefore boasts an unbelievably rich cultural heritage that has remained largely unchanged since the Middle Age.
Upon arrival at Hotel, guests will be offered welcome drinks and room key will be distributed.

DAY 02 Fly to Pokhara (20 minutes) and trek to Sanctuary Lodge: (3750ft/1150m)

After breakfast, you will be driven in a private vehicle to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu Airport for flight to Pokhara (20 minutes flight). During the flight, we get to savor the most mesmerizing views of the magnificent 8000 meter Mount Manaslu and the snow-capped Annapurna mountain range. Soon after touchdown in Pokhara, you will be met by our trekking crew and we take a leisurely approx 1 hour drive to to our trek start point, Nayapul {1-hour}. Our walk will follow a ridgeline in the lower foothills of the Annapurnas with surrounding views of the Pokhara Valley. This route then drops to the Modi River Valley, where Ker & Downey’s Sanctuary Lodge is located. The lodge has magnificent views of the sacred and unclimbed Fishtail Mountain, or Machhapuchhre, as it is locally known.

Sanctuary Lodge, situated on a promontory overlooking the Modi River just north of the scenic village of Birethanti, the Sanctuary Lodge (a Kerr & Downey lodge at 3,600 ft) has half a mile of river frontage, dramatic views of Machapuchare – the sacred ‘Fishtail’ mountain, and beautifully landscaped gardens.

Lunch is at the lodge followed by an optional walk to the village of Birethanti. Or you may choose to spend the afternoon exploring the surrounding river valley (Trek time 3-4 hours)

DAY 03 Trek to Himalaya Lodge, Ghandruk. (6,600ft/2,012m)

After breakfast, we leave the lodge walking out through the outlying farms following the Modi River Valley. Soon we begin to climb out of the valley & up towards the mountains. The trail passes through small hamlets, terraced rice fields and forests with spectacular views of the surrounding valley. Ker & Downey’s Himalaya Lodge in Ghandruk is at 6600 ft / 2000 meters. Snacks are provided along the trail. Hot lunch is served on arrival in the early afternoon. (Trek time 5-6 hours). It is from this lodge that there are magnificent close up views of the surrounding mountains.

Himalaya Lodge– Located at over 6,500 feet, the Himalaya Lodge, in the shadow of the Annapurna overlooks Ghandruk, once a popular recruitment location for the Gurkha soldier regiment.

This lodge is further away closer to the mountains and takes a slightly longer time and more difficult walk than the other lodges. From the Sanctuary lodge of 5 hours walk will get you to Himalaya Lodge. Slightly more difficult but suitable to all ages this 11 rooms property has one of the best Mountain views and numerous sights of villages agricultural terrace fields and numerous wildlife.

DAY 04 Trek to Gurung Lodge, Majgaun: (4620ft/1,400m)

After breakfast, we leave the Himalaya Lodge walking out through the village of Ghandruk. Buffaloes and goats graze in the surrounding fields and you may have to make way for the donkey and mule trains that convey goods to and from the Gurkha settlements. You may also meet some of the trekkers coming down from or heading up to the Sanctuary itself. We continue descending for about 2 or 3 hours until we reach Shauli Bazaar. We reach the Gurung Lodge after about 3 hours. (Trek time 5-6 hrs).

The Gurung Lodge is built along the lines of a traditional Nepalese village. Every room has spectacular views of the surrounding valley and mountains. Trek time to the Lodge is just 2 hours. After lunch at the lodge, you will be escorted to the local village of Tanchok. There will be a talk at a local house, now made into a museum. The contents of the house illustrate how the local people live, together with the tools and implements of day to day traditional village life.

Day 05 Trek to Basanta Lodge, Dhampus (5000 ft / 1525 m).

This morning we start out trekking through the unspoilt village of Patlekhet. Our walk takes us through sub-tropical forests that include tree orchids, rhododendrons and magnolias. Along the way, we will stop at the village of Pothana where many Tibetan traders live and sell their souvenirs. After about 4 ½ hours, we arrive at the Basanta Lodge. From the lodge, there are sweeping views of the entire Annapurna Range. After lunch at the lodge there will be an optional walk through the old village of Dhampus.
Basanta Lodge– At nearly 5000 feet, the views form this lodge is spectacular. A cosily decorate interior keeps you snug from outside, where there are numerous treks and stunning wildlife trails available.

With its comfortable accommodation and snug atmosphere, it provides a welcome haven at days end. The lodge sleeps sixteen guests in spacious en suite rooms, and has cosy central sitting and dining rooms. There is much to occupy guest here, from learning about hill farming on the steeply terraced hillsides with methods that have remained unchanged for centuries, to nature walks through great stands of conifer, rhododendron and bamboo, which shelter a rich variety of flora and fauna.

DAY 06 Trek to Pokhara (3300 ft /1000 m) & fly back to Kathmandu

After an early breakfast, we depart along the ridge & descend through the wooded hillside and terraced farmland to the valley floor. Trek time 1 ½ hours. We then transfer by vehicle to Pokhara Domestic Airport (30 minutes).

A mixture of various ethnic groups have made Kathmandu Valley a unique place not only for its cultural and tradition, but also for its authentic cuisine. Decorated in traditional Nepali ambience, soft lights cast long shadows in the room. Tradition paintings along with old handicrafts and soft melodious music makes for a truly enchanting evening. Another feather in its cap is the traditional folk music and cultural dance program performed every evening.

The idea behind it is to familiarize the guest(s) with the costume, traditions and life styles of various ethnic groups in Nepal.

DAY 07 Depart Kathmandu 
You are saying good bye to the mountains as your journey in Nepal comes to an end today! Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight time, your representative/ will transfer you to the airport.
