Exploring around Kyanjing Gompa allow you to capture some of the best photographs of wonderful snow clad mountains. This inner valley attached part of the Langtang National Park is also home for many endangered wild animals including red panda and abundant of wild flowers in nature. The sub alpine meadow lands, far corner of glacier moraine and optional day trip to Tserko Ri for the dramatis views of peaks are main attractions. After exploring days in this Langtang Valley the trekking trail will be diverted to the holy lake site of Gosainkunda. The holy Gosainkunda Lake is most popular pilgrimage destination among both Hindu and Buddhist religious people especially during full moon in the month of August visited by many people. There is also same festive moment many Shamans gathered to show their Shamanism rituals to claim rights traditionally.

Langtang Gosainkunda Trek begins in the ancient city of Kathmandu; from where you will drive to Syabrubesi by  Jeep; the starting point of your trek. This is an interesting village on the banks of the Bhote Kosi River. The trail gains elevation as you make your way along the Langtang Khola, first through forests of oak and rhododendron and then bamboo forests on the higher reaches of the trail. Traveling through Langtang (3,430m), you will reach the Langtang valley and the friendly Sherpa village of Kyanjing Gompa (3,870m). In Kyanjing Gompa you will experience the spiritual lifestyle of dedicated Buddhist monks who perform their rituals in a beautiful Monastery dating back to circa 1300 A.D. Optional day trip to Tserko Ri (5,000m) for tremendous view of the Langtang Lirung (7,200m) range. A short hike will also be taken to a magnificent glacial moraine (4,300m), which can be climbed depending on the time factor and offers more spectacular views of Langtang Lirung and the foot of one of its major glaciers. There will also be the opportunity of visiting a traditional cheese factory, where the produce is manufactured by hand. Once in Chadan Bari (3,330m), having traveled through Lama Hotel, you can relish magnificent views of the towering snow-covered Ganesh Himal (7,600m) and Langtang -II (7,227m) peaks. If lucky you might be able to spot the shy Red Panda that inhabits the Langtang region. Moving on to Gosainkund, watch the sun rise over a multitude of glistening Lakes of this sacred pilgrimage site. It is believed that Lord Shiva created the holy lake with his trident. Then we descend to trek to Dhunche via Singh Gompa and then finally drive back to Kathmandu by private  Jeep.

Day-by-Day Detailed Itinerary

Day 01 Kathmandu to Syabru Besi [1450m]
Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi by private Jeep – About 5 hours drive
We start our journey early in the morning and drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi by a private Jeep which takes about 5 hours drive. You head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabru Besi passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road on the bank of Trishuli River you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. As you pass through Dhunche you feel as if you are heading towards deep land. Please note that the first part of your drive up to Trishuli Bazaar is quite smooth. The path then moves along the gravel road. During the rainy season, the way is sometime blocked due to landslides. Day 02 Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel (2480m)
Trek from Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel– About 6 hours walking
We traverse the ridge on Syabru Besi’s main road and soon reach Ghopcha Khola. Terraced fields and dense forest with a variety of plant species like oaks, maple, alder and bamboo open up. We may get to see yellow-throated martin, wild boar, Langur monkey, red panda and Himalayan black bear en route. Further on, the trail crosses a stream and a bridge. We pass by several small bhattis (tea shops). As we continue ascending steeply along the trail, we come across a steel suspension bridge at 2000 meters. The route further crosses to the north bank of the Langtang Khola amid the spectacular vistas of cascading waterfalls and opens into scrub oak forest. On reaching at Lama Hotel where we conclude the trek for the day. Dinner and overnight at local lodge (Teahouse)

Day 03 Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3541m)
Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village – About 6 ½ hours walking
From Lama Hotel, we continue the ascent above the Langtang Khola. As the trail progresses, it becomes steeper. We have the most exotic sights of Langtang Lirung lying at 7246 meter. The trail leads to a log bridge and on climbing further we come across lush meadows of Ghora Tabela at 3000m. We will see several lodges and a police check post. Further on, the route opens up into a wide valley of yak pastures and scattered Tamang villages with water-driven mills and prayer wheels. We arrive at Langtang village after crossing a stream and reaching up a height of 3500 meters. Langtang village is the headquarters for Langtang National Park and has flat-roofed Tibetan style houses, hotels and cultivated lands yielding buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips, barley etc. Dinner and overnight at local lodge (Teahouse)

Day 04  Langtang Village to Kyangjin Gompa (3900m)
Trek from Langtang Village to Kyangjin -About 4 hours walking
After taking morning tea and breakfast, we get out of the village and pass on through yak pastures. Also pass the largest mani wall in Nepal, made from stone with prayers written on them. The prayers written on the mani wall is supposed to be blown away by the wind. Cross several of the wooden bridges. Since, we are really getting into the high altitudes; you might start feeling the thin air. Kyajing Gompa is surrounded by the Himalayas all around. You can take a walk around Kanjin Gompa enjoying the views, glaciers, icefalls, birds and yaks. Dinner and overnight at local lodge (Teahouse)

Day 05 At Kyangjin Gompa
Exploration day in Kyangjin
It is a day to explore the area. You can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyangjin Ri [4350m], directly behind the village, for a breath-taking panorama of the Langtang peaks. Note: There is an alternative option to do a side day trip to Tserko Ri (4984m) from Kyangjin Gompa which takes about 7-8 hrs for roundtrip. Dinner and overnight at local lodge (Teahouse)

Day 06 Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2480m)
Trek from Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel-About 5 ½ hours walking

After breakfast, we walk mostly downhill, it is 4/ 5 hours walk from Kanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel. The trail goes all the way down hill through forest following the river. Pass through the ethnic Tamang settlements who follow religious and cultural practices similar to the Tibetans. Dinner and overnight at local lodge (Teahouse)

Day 07 Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2230m)
Trek from Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru-About 5-6 hours walking
First trail decent to river, cross the river and ascend to Thulo Syabru. You will see the fascinating view of Langtang Himal and more. On the way of your trek you will pass through pine and Junieerps forests. Overnight in Thulo Syabru (2,230m) Dinner and overnight at local lodge (Teahouse)

Day 08 Thulo Syabru to Shing Gompa (3584m)
Trek from Thulo Syabru to Shing Gompa-About 4 hrs walking
You take the broad trail climbing up to Dimsa village and the trial continues less steeply, through rhododendron, hemlock and Oak forests to Shing Gompa. On the way of your trek you will see fantastic views of Langtang Himal and Langtang valley. Shing Gompa is another popular place for Cheese.

Day 09 Shing Gompa to Gosaikunda (4381m)
Trek from Shing Gompa to Gosaikunda-About 5 ½ hrs walking
Today, the first part of the trails emerges gently ascent up to Lauribinayak and the top of Lauribinayak gives us an exotic feeling. Then the trails steeply ascend all the way to Gosaikunda. we follow a rugged trail with dramatic views; to the west Himal chuli(7893m) Manaslu range (8156mm), Ganesh Himal range(7406m), Tibetan peaks and Langtang Lirung. On a clear day, even the Annapurna range can be seen rising up behind and to the north across the valley is Langtang Lirung. You pass a few huts in the high pasture of Laurebinayak, cross a small ridge and have your first views of the holy lakes. There are about a dozen lakes in the Gosainkunda Basin, the main three being Saraswatikunda, Bhairabkunda, and Gosainkunda. According to the legend, Gosainkunda was created by Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after having swallowed a poison that threatened to destroy the world.

Day 10 Gosaikunda to Shing Gompa (3584m)
Trek from Gosaikunda to Sing Gompa- About 4 hours walking
Today, the trails descend all the way to Sing Gompa passing Laurebana Yak (4000m) with magnificent mountain views and forests. Note: The route to Gosaikunda pass Trek or whole Langtang Circuit Trek separated from here (Gosaikunda).

Day 11 Sing Gompa to Dhunche (1950m) and drive back to Kathmandu by Local private Jeep
Trek from Shing Gompa to Dhunche – About 4 ½ hours walking
Today is our last walking day of our trekking and the first part of the trails descend through pine, silver oak and rhododendrons forests with marijuana plants up to crossing a suspension bridge over the Sing Gompa Stream. Now the path stretches at flat level through some human settlements and mineral water factories up to Dhunche.
