Crocodile (Gharial) Conservation

The Government of Nepal established the Gharial breeding center in 1978 after the crocodile population was at an all time low. The conservation site is near Kasara and aims to protect the natural egg laying sites of gharials to hatch eggs in artificial conditions.

DAY 01 – Arrive at Jungle Villa Resort

On arrival at the resort, we will give the guests a short briefing of their program, and assign them their rooms.

12:30 hrs Lunch/ A delicious lunch prepared by our team of expert kitchen staff will be served to our guests.

14:30 hrs  Tharu Village Walk– The Tharu people are indigenous to the area, and their culture is very unique, different from what can be found in Nepal or even India. Guests can immerse into the local culture by strolling through the local Tharu village. This also includes a visit to the Tharu Cultural Museum. During this walk our naturalist will also brief them about the social and cultural aspect of the villagers and their lifestyle.

17:00 hrs Sundowner (Happy hour followed by Sundowner)

Guests can take a breather and enjoy the peaceful view of the river at our deck area, watching the wildlife and nature, lounge around the resort premises, order drinks at the bar, and just relax. The sunset is very beautiful as well, and is an experience that shouldn’t be missed.

DAY 2 Depart Jungle Villa Resort

06:00 hrs Elephant Walk – At a five minutes drive from the resort is the boarding station, where guests will walk with elephant and explore the jungle and it’s abundant wildlife, including different types of deers, monkeys, wild boars, bisons, sloth bears, the famous one-horned rhinoceros, and if lucky, even leopards and the Royal Bengal tiger as well. There are also rare faunas and over 200 species of birds in the area that can be observed during the safari.

The whole experience lasts for 2-3 hours, after which the guests will return to the resort.

08:00 hrs Breakfast – A scrumptious breakfast spread will be served to the guests.

DAY 01 – Arrive at Jungle Villa Resort

Upon arrival at Jungle Villa Resort, you will be met and briefed by the Guest Relation officer regarding the park and the programs available and assign them their rooms.

One of our wildlife experts will give a short presentation about Chitwan National Park. This presentation also includes more details about the local wildlife and also a brief history of the park. Guests are welcome to ask any questions.

DAY 02 – Full Day Jungle Activities in Chitwan

06:30 hrs Wake Up Call Guests will be given a wakeup call to get ready for the day’s activities.

08:30 hrs Breakfast A scrumptious breakfast spread will be served to the guests.

08:30 hrs Crocodile Conservation Project visit Guests will be taken to the Crocodile Conservation Project, an initiative to preserve and protect the endangered crocodiles of the park. Established in 1971, the Gharial (distinguished from other crocodiles by its narrow snout) conservation center has been breeding this endangered species and releasing them to the wild every year. Our naturalist will accompany them, guiding them and providing information about various methods and programmes being undertaken to increase Gharial population in the wild.

09:30 hrs Canoeing After the visit to Crocodile Conservation Project, guests will be taken on a boating tour in a traditional Patela boat, which will take them down serenely along the Rapti river, which will also have aquatic birds, Gharials and other animals on the river banks. The boat ride lasts for approximately 45 minutes

14:30 hrs Jeep Safari Guests can ride a jeep through the wilderness, experiencing the local wildlife for themselves. They will observe birds, flora, and fauna, like the one-horned Rhinoceros, countless species of deer, bisons, and if lucky, even the Royal Bengal Tiger. The whole experience lasts for 2-3 hours, after which the guests will return to the resort.

17:00 hrs Sundowner (Happy hour followed by Sundowner)

Guests can take a breather and enjoy the peaceful view of the river at our deck area, watching the wildlife and nature, lounge around the resort premises, order drinks at the bar, and just relax. The sunset is very beautiful as well, and is an experience that shouldn’t be missed.

18:30 hrs Tharu Cultural Dance

Guests will able to enjoy the local Tharus from the village showcasing their traditional Tharu stick dance. The dance is an age-old tradition of the Tharus and is usually performed to appease the gods during religious festivals.

19:30 pm BBQ Dinner Guests will be served a BBQ dinner either in the central dining hall, or outside on the deck, depending upon their preference.

DAY 03 Depart Jungle Villa Resort
